Reduce, reuse, recycle, and refuse plastic

The inconvenient truth is that plastic is everywhere in our lives and it pollutes the environment around us irrevocably. Fear not though, there are a few simple changes you can make to your lifestyle to reduce, reuse, recycle, and refuse plastic! Especially single-use plastic.

Here are some things you can do:

  • Carry a cloth bag when you go shopping.
  • Carry a coffee mug/ flask to the coffee shop instead of using takeaway cups.
  • Reduce the amount of takeaway food you order in plastic containers. Switch to places that offer biodegradable or paper containers.
  • Buy bigger bottles rather than small ones for your essential cleaning products and toiletries.
  • Use bamboo, paper, and other biodegradable alternatives whenever possible.
  • Reuse all the plastic you can at home.
  • Find a place close by that recycles plastic.

There is a lot of plastic in our daily lives that we may not even think about such as packets of chips, biscuit wrappers, bottles of sauces, cold drinks, cleaning products, etc. One of the biggest steps one can take is simply to be conscious of the amount of plastic used in our day to day lives and switch to alternatives
